AADA’S New Award-Winning Host: Anjali Rao

AADA National Dealer Convention delegates are in for a treat, with award-winning international journalist Anjali Rao the new host of the 2018 AADA National Dealer Convention & Expo.

Anjali is a multi-award-winning television journalist and chat show host who has spent 17 years in the top tiers of broadcast news, current affairs and entertainment. Formerly an anchor at Sky News in London, she spent six years as anchor of CNN International’s weekday breakfast show and host of the network’s weekly chat show, Talk Asia; both of which air globally to 220 million households.

Anjali is a unique talent who is able to connect with people across all walks of life – from international A-listers to everyday people with a story to tell.

Warm, engaging, and funny, Anjali’s honest yet relaxed interview style has led to revealing conversations with some of the world’s highest profile personalities including US President Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, actors Kevin Spacey and Gwyneth Paltrow, pop star Rihanna, armed robber turned best-selling author of Shantaram, Gregory David Roberts, sporting legends Roger Federer and Kobe Bryant, and fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld among countless others.

Born to an Indian father and Australian mother, Anjali was raised in Hong Kong, educated in the United Kingdom, but is now based in Melbourne.

Her journalistic career highlights include covering breaking events such as the 9/11 attacks, the 2004 Asian tsunami, the death of Pope John Paul II, the 7/7 bombings in London, the 2008 siege of Mumbai, and the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.

Anjali has appeared as a panellist on Channel Ten’s The Project and Studio 10 and also as guest host on Sydney’s 2UE radio station and Triple M Melbourne.

With this vast range of experience, AADA believes Anjali will prove to be an excellent host. She is a true professional who will continue AADA’s fine tradition of top-quality hosts, following on from long-time host Ian Leslie, and last year’s host, Tracey Spicer.

The role of the AADA National Dealer Convention Host is an important one. They are the face of the Convention and are called on to front many sessions and functions.

This being the case, it is crucial the host is well-informed and up to date on the issues and challenges facing the retail Automotive Industry.

The good news is that Anjali is renowned for her in-depth research and comprehensive coverage of her subject matter. As with Ian and Tracey, Anjali is the ultimate professional and you can relax knowing that she knows her stuff.

On the Tuesday morning, she will host the AADA General Session, which will feature The Hon. Anthony Albanese, Shadow Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, Cities & Tourism. Anjali’s extensive experience in interviewing the world’s big names will stand her in good stead when it comes to dealing with one of Canberra’s wiliest operators.

Later that day, Anjali will host the AADA Keynote Address, featuring The Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon. Michael McCormack MP., 2018 NADA Chairman, Wes Lutz, and Graeme Whickman, President of Ford Motor Company Australia and New Zealand.

On the Wednesday afternoon, Anjali will host the AADA Special Presentation: Managing Disruption, which will bring the expertise of J.D. Power to the fore. Following that session, she will introduce U.S. digital sales expert, David Kain, who will be joined by Google’s Head of Automotive, Caroline Laird, and Facebook Client Partner for the Australian Automotive Industry, Paul Balbo.

And of course, Anjali will be there at all our breakfasts and luncheons to introduce our special guests and extract as much insight from them as you would expect an award-winning journalist to do.

We are confident Anjali will do a first-class job in hosting the AADA National Dealer Convention & Expo. We are privileged to have her on board, excited as to what she can bring to the Convention, and we can’t wait for you to meet her.
