Tony Weber is Chief Executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, Australia’s peak body representing vehicle manufacturers and distributors.
Since joining the FCAI in 2012, Tony has been a prominent voice in national automotive policy, industry representation and government engagement. His work has focused on the issues shaping Australia’s new vehicle market, including emissions policy, consumer choice, technology transition, vehicle affordability, market regulation and the future of mobility.
Before joining the FCAI, Tony held senior roles across the Australian Government, including positions in Commonwealth departments and involvement in key policy and economic taskforces. This background gives him a strong understanding of the intersection between public policy, industry competitiveness and the practical realities facing automotive businesses.
Tony has been closely involved in industry discussion around the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard, including its implications for vehicle supply, model mix, consumer demand, emissions reduction, technology pathways and affordability. He has consistently emphasised the importance of policy settings that support emissions reduction while recognising the vehicles Australians need, the technologies currently available and the pressures facing consumers.
As a AADA 2026 Main Stage panellist, Tony brings an Australian industry perspective to the Global Challenges – Dealer Impact discussion, helping connect international market disruption with the local policy, supply and consumer factors shaping Australia’s automotive retail environment.
